Well, at 14,967 feet/4,562 meters, Mount Meru is considered to be the second-highest peak of Tanzania after Mount Kilimanjaro. It is also the fourth-highest highlands of Africa. Basic Mount Meru Trekking Information
If you climb Mount Meru on its official route, it may take you some dangerous three to four days to reach the peak. The correct path is well-marked, and with a local and experienced guide, you can cover them all easily. There are also some unofficial trekking routes in the west and northern sides of Mount Meru which are actually illegal to climb up.
The best time for a Mount Meru Climb tour is the dry seasons, ranging from June to October or December to February. During this period, the official route of this mountain, called Momella Route has almost no traffic and offers fantastic wildlife experiences as you may hike past some rare wildlife animals. However, for better safety and security, taking a guide with you is mandatory.
